Well you may have noticed a calm before, but now it is time for the storm!
Valcour has overhauled our look, entered into new partnerships for distribution overseas and for joint musical projects here at home, and we are releasing two exciting CDs just in time for Festivals Acadiens and the coming holiday season!
If you are reading this news item, you can see that we have changed our logo and the look of our website. This new look is what we consider an evolution of the original Valcour look – we are sticking to our colors, fonts and (slightly improved) rooster, but we have graduated to an appearance that is more reflective of the sounds on our albums – a little bit Louisiana, a little bit folk and a little bit rock n’ roll. But with the new look comes an active pursuit on our behalf to partner with more organizations and businesses with similar cultural, musical and creative goals.
In that spirit we have joined with Bear Family Records in Germany for distribution across continental Europe and Wrasse Records in England for U.K. distribution. We will stick with our friends at Select-O-Hits for the U.S. and Floyd’s Wholesale in Louisiana. We have also teamed up with the good folks the University of Louisiana Lafayette’s Archives of Cajun and Creole Folklore to bring you live recordings from Festivals Acadiens past through our new Rubber Bootleg Series. And finally, we are working with Bayou Teche Brewing for the first time (hopefully of many) to co-release an album and a seasonal beer just in time for Mardi Gras.
Last but not least, it is still all about the music! In addition to the Rubber Bootleg Series Best of Festivals Acadiens 2002 CD, we are super excited to bring you The Band Courtbouillon—a one of a kind collaboration by a few of Cajun music’s biggest and most dynamic personalities (not to mention masterful accordionists): Wayne Toups, Steve Riley and Wilson Savoy! Click on over to The Band Courtbouillon page for some free downloads and to purchase the album, and pick up some Valcour merch while you are here!
Indeed these are exciting times for Valcour and for Louisiana music! Thanks for sticking with us through all these years.
