Together since mid 2010, And in the midst of a long journey, the powerful sextet from Lafayette, La known as FIGHTs has found a fresh sound and an unmistakable uniqueness. The labyrinth of its evolution, from concept to present-day, has become a mini-legend in local lore. Also known as “The Formal Institute of Great Hit Tunes” the band relies on the double drumming of Dallas Griffith and Danny Devillier. Playing infectious, upbeat, dancy grooves, this percussive powerhouse is complemented by the counterpoint of thumping, fuzzy bass from Matthew O’Neal, and the sweet, slinky synthesizer lines of Brycen Gaddis. All accompanied by a symphony of otherworldly sounds from the mad mind of J Burton, and heart wrenching wails from J and vocalist Jessie Lalonde. As is if this wasn’t enough, recently the group has featured Danny Devillier’s unique approach to the fiddle, as he routes the sound through a maze of effects, then fires it through a home-made tube amp at full blast. The 2012 release “Summer Hits” hit big on local radio in Lafayette and New Orleans. Currently the group is putting the finishing touches on a recently-recorded full length, due out in the Summer of 2013.
